Young Drivers Scheme
Thames Valley Police & Safer Roads Partnership
The UK's first driver offender rehabilitation scheme that targets a particular demographic group rather than defining groups based on vehicle use or offending behaviour.
Launched in April 2008 by Prince Michael of Kent, 4000 young drivers passed through the scheme within the first year.
Evaluation shows that the Young Driver Scheme (YDS) is proving to be nearly 60% more effective in reducing re-offending rates than issuing a fixed penalty notice. |
